Developer Verticalsim has announced that they have made the unfortunate decision to remove the whole collection of VStates from their servers. As of September 25th at 11 PM EST, VStates will no longer be available to download from any source hosted by Verticalsim.

The news comes as a shock and sad surprise for many who used VStates as a way to make parts of the USA on X-Plane 11 look much more realistic. However, the team cited that the hosting costs and partial compatibility with X-Plane 12 meant that now is the time for the team to pull it. Furthermore, there is also a lack of time for maintenance and technical support for the freeware project.

Verticalsim said on Facebook, “I’d like to say a big thank you to all who donated to the project over the years, it was an honor to provide many of you with a great experience for X-Plane.” They went on, “I’d like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for some of you, which is why I’m giving close to a month.

All isn’t lost, however, as Verticalsim has said that they will allow the full project to be shared wherever someone may want to edit and upload it.

If you’re keen to download VStates before it’s removed from their servers, you can do so from this link.
