Those of you who are heading to Oshkosh later this year, via plane, will very much appreciate this exciting and realistic event that PilotEdge is hosting this July. SimVenture Oshkosh allows pilots to fly into the iconic airport with real Oshkosh air traffic controllers using flight simulation.

10,000 aircraft visit Wisconsin’s Wittman Regional Airport for EAA’s AirVenture event. With a large amount of movement in the skies, it’s important that pilots are proficient and able to take on the challenge of flying in a fast-paced environment. Due to the nature of the event in real life, there are specific VFR procedures and non-standard manoeuvres that must be conducted by pilots in order to safely arrive into the airport.

With the event hosted by PilotEdge, you can take to the virtual skies to practice the procedures online from the safety of your own home. It doesn’t matter if you’re attending the event or not, you can take part and experience what it would be like to land at Oshkosh during the summer event.

The video below gives you an idea on what to expect and just how specific some of the instructions are when you fly during the event.

About a week before the event, a free scenery package will be released specifically for the event that will give you a near-identical rendition of the conditions at the airport during Oshkosh. Not only does the event help pilots, but as SimVenture is armed with the actual controllers, it gives them a chance to practice scenarios and be better prepared for the real-world event.

SimVenture will take place on the PilotEdge network from Thursday 14th July until Sunday 17th July 2022. The exact timings for each day have yet to be confirmed.
